Quicktime viewing of DIF files, Poor quality!

Part of the DV.Now.AV installation is the Quicktime viewer for the .DIF DV files. I can simply click on the DIF file, and the video will play. This works fine.

However, the video quality is absolutely horrible. It looks very blocky. I can load the DIF file into Fast Forward and the video is beautiful on both the computer screen and the TV.

Is there some way to improve the appearance of the Quicktime viewer?

On a similar note, is there a way to play the DIF files using Windows media player instead of having to use the Quicktime player?

Thanks,

Anthony

That problem has never been reported to us here in the UK. Our dif files play absolutely fine in Quicktime player. Have you tried using a different version of Quicktime player? Also, ask the US support department if they have seen this problem - maybe it only happens with NTSC.
And, no, you cannot play them in Media Player - only Quicktime player.

I live in the UK and I have exactly the same problem. Using the Fast Forward software, the pictures are flawless but when you play using QT the picture is very blocky and blurred!!

Allan,

As you suggested, I downloaded Quicktime 5 and it does fix the poor video quality that I had been experiencing with the Quicktime player. Thanks!

Unfortunately, the new version won't play the external audio tracks A1/A2. It insists on playing the internal (unedited) audio track that is within the DIF file.

So, now I'm looking for one of two solutions:

1. Place my edited audio tracks in the DIF file and do away with the external files completely (would prefer this).

2. Get the Quicktime player to recognize the external audio tracks and play them with the DIF video file.

Thanks,

Anthony
