I have a use for a screen recorder to capture video. Free is nice if it works.  I have tried a few, and so far Active Presenter produces a good AVI but has an annoying message at start-up about missing English language, but will use English. The output file is large, and seems the same for most of the others. But when converted to AVI, loads into Prem. Elements.

CamStudio doesn`t work, BB flash recorder records at 14fps, and LiteCam files do not input into Prem. Elements or Vegas Studio.

All downloads except Active Presenter have a selection of toolbars and things you don`t want. Declining still dumps something nasty, and I have just re-imaged the Win7 partition, as the PC became unstable.

LiteCam is the trial, and some options are not available. If would it output something useable would be ideal.  I would really like to know if anyone has had any success with any of them please.

Re: Screen Recorder
Ninja recorder via HDMI works great - zero additional load on computer. The ONLY limitation is that you need to use 720P50/60 or 1080P25/30 - you can't do 1024 x 768 etc.

Not FREE but may be kit you already have. Just take the hard drive out and convert the files into whatever you need to work with.

We've also played out of one PC into a Matrox MX02 via HDMI - works fine at HD resolutions/frame rates.

Re: Screen Recorder
Thanks Gavin.

I want to record part or all the PC screen area. Ninja looks very good, but a bit expensive, and I don`t have HDMI out. The good thing is, that it cannot download a virus........

Re: Screen Recorder
I have just played the DVD back on a 40inch TV. Not very smooth I`m afraid. Screen recording was a children’s program from BBC iPlayer. Screen resolution was 60hz, I have now changed to 75hz the highest.
The files were converted from Active Presenter`s AVI in Prem. Elements to mpeg2, and the DVD made in DVD Architect.

Thanks.
Tried an old version of Tunebite without much success. Just un-installed that and iPlayer which stopped working!  Now to try a new version of Tune bite and iPlayer again! It would seem the logical way to do it……..

Google may be my friend, but so far not very helpful. Especially as Google has decided to mess about with the way it works. Mine no longer starts with my inbox, until I change the page. The search page has also changed, and there is a lot about it but no one is hoping for a return to sanity!
