Greetings my mentors...
so Im working away with final cut pro, editing my first video, when a friend installs some software on the side. The moment he does, voila, my project is pooched. The audio now plays back real time, but he video, both straight out of the dv camera and during playback is at half speed, therefore, Im dropping frames every 3 seconds. I dleted what I thought were the offending programs and yet no difference. Arggggg...I m really confused now as Ive tried every set of extensions possible...what am I missing?
what did your "friend" install?

Steve...
it seems some of my extensions were corrupted, I reinstalled my system software and it corrected the problem. Now, I have another in that when I play back my edited video on my mac, the sync goes out after about 2minutes. Now what?

Dag - check the box in prefs that says audio compensator for movies longer that 5 mins. If you have a lot of rendered bits (from effects etc) you may need to rebuild those in FCP.

Steve...I had used the compensator and it doesnt help. Im am unsure what you mean when you refer to rebuilding my renders. Could you explain that to me? I have rerendered the whole project with the best quality render and still the video plays back faster than the audio after a minute or so.
