A colleague was talking about a sony(?) field production system...
Self-contained, 4 x4"(?) monitors for preview, audio mix facilities and ALL signals recorded to Hard Disc. Effectively live shoot, vision mixed live but ALL the alternative camera shots still being recorded... like a DV video walkman - only a bigger version ...
Anybody recognise this ? Model number? price?
a friend used one and didn't get on with it. He found it too fiddly and the monitor windows were too small.
Look at Datavideo's kit

I have a pair of cases with an old MX50, the other case has a TFT monitor with a quad splitter. The cases are Maplin record deck ones, so the top lifts off. The mixer sits on the small part of the lid, the monitor is mounted in the main body of the other case, so the parts that aren't needed can be clipped together and stashed.
I record to a DSR25 - old tech but i wouldn't get much for it and it works
This is what we use for our live shows - usually to a big screen, but occasionally for DVD production on the spot, rather than edited. A bit big, but everything in one big box.
paulears,
please tell me if it's none of my business, but I think there might be a spelling error here. No pun intended. :D
Regards,
Well - to be honest, I'm grateful. That's been there since last year - and I didn't notice. Being VERY honest, it took me ages to spot the mistake, and I almost gave up! I've repaired it - thanks. For those nosey people who will wonder what it was - A rather big click here, but it actually said CLICK HEAR. It does mean that the spell checker didn't work, or that I just didn't spot it. Either way, Ta very much!

Glad it was a help.

Nothing wrong with your spell checker!
Tonight - I had lots of material arrive from a university for me to approve - one of the lecturers had spelled "performance" as "Perfromance" in the title. Didn't I feel guilty commenting on it!
Mark M - Yep that was it - thanks
Dave M - will take that on board, if I can get a hands-on demo of it - Datavideo kit looks promising - I had been advised Anycast could facilitate recording of multiple audio/video streams and that was appealing
Can Datavideo record to mac compatible firewire drive?
don't take my word but i think the datavideo hard drive recorder does this.
only noticed this post.
I have an anycast so if you've any questions fire away.
