SSD and Disc ?

My Premier edit program is on a SSD main 'C' drive and video is captured to my 'D' disc drive.
I'm having a new SDD fitted but having the present one re-installed.
I intend to load Premier on to it plus use it to capture video.
I'm hoping that this set up will speed things up.

Any comments ??

Cheers.

Are you suggesting that your computer will now have three drives, old SSD, new SSD and spinning disk drive? How big are the drives?

I use an SSD for C but I need big drives for the projects that I work on and the prices of 1Tb SSDs are still too high.

Hi Ray.

The new SSD 'C' drive will be 240 gb.
The old SSD is 128 gb and is to be used to store premier and capture video. 128 gb will be more that enough for my needs.
The disc drive is 1tb and will be used for storage.

Cheers.

Ah, Bank Holiday over!  If I was in your position, I would use the old (128) SSD for Windows and for Premiere (after all, Premiere installs part of itself into Windows anyway). You'll still only use maybe 40Gb.

Then use the 240 SSD for current projects (capture, rendered files, project files, music, titles, etc) and the 1Tb for storage once the current projects have been put to bed.

Re: SSD and Disc ?

Thanks again Ray.

I intend now to use this computer for more than just editing so might be a good idea to keep Windows on the C drive.

Cheers.
