SSD... Yes or No

Have to get myself a new external hard drive.
The present one , a 1TB Toshiba, stops and starts at random intervals.
Suspect my wife's laptop is on its last legs and want to save backup files from it.

Without bursting the bank, should I go for a SSD  ..  ???

Cheers.

No experience in external SSD`s as I use Seagate 2 & 3TB as externals but a while back I had my main edit PC updated by DVC & had an SSD put in as the system drive & the difference in startups etc was very much better. They are expensive and if you are using it as an external I would seriously consider the Seagates!

Just a wee update that I should already have mentioned.

Got myself a 1TB Seagate and it's perfect for my needs.

  Cheers.
