Streamclip for Macpro

I tried for the first time yesterday since upgrading to use Streamclip in my Intel Macpro and found it didn't work. Checked with the drivers on the Net and came to realise that it is not supported for FCP 5 in the Intels and that there is no likelihood of that happening in the foreseeable future. Anyone got an alternative so that I can carry on? T.I.A.

Coming back to this, I find that the Square Five site has indeed got a reference to Intel Macs being compatible whereas the previous info I had seen stated otherwise. I tried yet again after re-downloading l.9.2 and managed to save a prog which I'm looking into at the moment in FCP. I've found that later attempts to do the same thing with Streamclip again failed - bemused ... !

Okay, I edited the film then tried to save it or export it. No go. Always "Access denied." Got fed up and came out of FCP after clicking Don't Save!

Coming back yet again - tried the Beta version using different selections and the only one that allowed a c onversion was Other Formats so I had a go at that, converting to QT. It kept going on and on, recommencing for the third time when I stopped it. Nothing!

.... and again! Trashed FCP prefs, did Permissions, used Disk Warrior which got stuck in and kept wanting to start all over again and had to retract it by turning off power as the black screen came up on restart. Now managed to regain Export in FCP. Will see what Streamclip 'has to say.'

Right - after another day, beginning to feel really at a loss now. Managed to use QT through Streamclip and get a film into FCP but exporting not allowed and no audio. One of my problems is lack of attention to it all as I've got commitments away from home quite regularly. Will look in again later.

Well - it seems most of my problems may have been to do with the update to 10.5.7 (I was on 10.5.6) because in desperation I downloaded that last update and found things actually worked.
