System freezes

Although my system is exempt of any IRQ conflicts, my system freezes once in a while and especially when trying to RW or FF DV player or trying to render after a few minutes. My swap file is on a dedicated partition of the capture drive ( 384 MB ).
My configuration is:
-Abit BE6 with 384 MB Ram with latest bios 1.25
-Viper 770 with latest Detonator 3 drivers
-Maxtor 20 Gb as system drive (Windows 98 SE)
-Maxtor 30Gb as capture drive partitioned in 2: one 384 MB for swap file and the balance for capture, and plugged on channel 4 with latest Htp 366 bios 1.25.
What could possibly cause those glitches ???

Did you try turning off Windows' Virtual Memory?

Is 384 MB of Ram sufficient to work without swap file??

I do it with 256 meg of ram, have done so for about a week now, and no problems with my other applications either. But your mileage may vary. If it is an issue with you rother applications, you can always turn it on and off as needed, all you waste is a few minutes to reboot.
