If you don't mind my saying boys!
Is'nt it about time you updated the main page of DV Doctor, telling us what Bob Crabtree will be doing at Earls Court in January 2005.

Just a thought!

Hold on, these are dialogue threads, not predictions. There was a lot of interest in what we did there. This board does not delete news items when they pass, they remain and people still comment on and in them.

Get my test cards document, and cards for 625, 525, 720 and 1080. Thanks to Gavin Gration for hosting them.
Camera settings documents are held by Daniel Browning and at the EBU
My book, 'Circles of Confusion' is available here.
Also EBU Tech.3335 tells how to test cameras, and R.118 tells how to use the results.

Take your point Alan, but I'm sure you will admit that it could be misleading to a new member.
Personally, I have been viewing the site for two weeks before joining but have never bothered to click on that particular box because it is grammatically referring to the past.
So maybe a change of tense, i.e. 'Find out what Bob Crabtree did at Earls court' might be more fitting, and a little less confusing for thick people like me.
As I say, just a thought!

Take care Alan

have to agree with Suzy on that one. It has been a while, and the rather large font isn't really neccessary any more.

doesn't really bother me, just makes the place look untidy...

mark.

If you're regarding this as a news service, I'd agree, but it isn't, it's a set of discussions. Just look at almost any thread and you'll find that it's out of date at some point, but that doesn't mean we should delete or rename it, does it?

The problem I have is that a lot of threads have become "stuck" at the tops of all the lists so they don't appear in their correct chronological positions. If that were put right then this discussion wouldn't have started. But when that happens, do we delete this thread or just leave it?

Alan, are you a politician or what?

Do you send out invitations to your birthday party a week later then?

And by the way Alan, the only reason the discussion started was due to the fact that I commented how confusing it could be interpreted by some members. Just as well I did'nt put I though it looked unprofessional too.
Heaven forbid!

But Alan, if it makes you happy, Fine! I can live with it.

Take Care x

Infact that whole page is nearly out of date now. The DEC appeal has closed.

OIC.

No, I'm not a politician, never wanted to be, nor an or what. And I don't have birthday parties, I gave up counting a while ago. Yes, of course notices should be up to date, I agree with you.

'I have been viewing the site for two weeks' - When you have been viewing the site for a couple of years, and you have, maybe, benifited from its content, perhaps you will view entries, like the one you chose to take issue with, in a more relaxed stance. Tony C. ;)

I also have been on this site for some time. I think the original post was quite reasonable. If this site is to develop as Bob hopes it will after the demise of the Magazine, then these post must be updated or removed much quicker. There have been a number of posts recently on various forums which hav'nt been very welcoming to new members. If this board is to survive and attract sponsorship then a posting drawing things like this to our attention should be handled in a positive not negative way

I agree 100%. And top of my list is doing away with messages that always live at the top of thread lists, they make it hard to find recent postings.

Tony, Mike and Alan,

Chill out boys it was only an observation after all.

You make it sound as if this is some kind of anorak zone.

Tell me though, what does a posting advertising something that happened a month ago portray to the fleeting browser. It could, and I repeat could, give the impression that the web site is not regularly updated.

I'm sure you will all agree with that.

Thank-you x

Am I the only person wondering if this is the loathsome and creepy Nigel Cooper back under yet another alias?

Anyone taking bets?

I've spent a merry hour unstickying a whole bunch of threads but have left in place one in the Computer Video mag forum and all of those in the FAQ forum.
