This is one John will probably be able to answer quicker than i can type it lol
I have a EW100 G2 lapel radio mic, if i get the approreate cable can i plug the K6/ME66 in to the transmitter so i dont have a cable trailing from the camera?
Yes you can, but I think you will need to power the mic from batteries, you will also need one of these to do it: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300560685651#ht_500wt_1156
Yes, thats it!! The K6 powering unit should do the job of powering it. Putting it on the end of a boom pole. with no cable it's easier to move around and less chance of tripping someone over.
Yes I do similar thing but have the mic plug transmitter that also gives phantom power to the shotgun mic.
gary,\
That would be the SKP500 - the SKP100 doesn't give phantom power (for those that are considering this)
Yes it's the SKP500 that I have, got it from a fellow forum member a couple of years ago!
SPK100 works fine on a boom pole with a K6/ME66 provided you stick a AA in the mic.
BTW Chris the SPK100 we bought from you is still going strong - it's a fair few years ago!

Same here, it works for me.

You can use the SKP 100, SKP 500 or SKP 2000 of course (the 500 and 2000 supply phantom power, with the 100 you have to use the internal batteries).
If you use a cable into your SK 100 it will have to be specially made.
You need an XLR-3F with a DC blocking capacitor inside the XLR to prevent the plug-in power from the transmitter getting into the microphone - with a lockable 3.5mm mini-jack on the other end wired +ve to tip and -ve to sleeve and ring and sleeve shorted.
Don't use a cable without the blocking capacitor!
I suppose you could also use the plug in transmitter and plug it in the end of the mic.

More expensive than a cable I know but a better solution. Not sure how much you can pick one up on ebay, maybe a forum member has one going cheap.
Thanks for that John. I take it that Plugging the K6 into the EW100 with a normal cable would damage the K6?ME66 module??
Do you know if sennheiser do such a cable or do i need a specialised to make one up?
The blocking capacitor is good practice - I did it without damage without one, but the noise floor went up quite a bit - the pre-amps did not like 'double' powering. If you make your own, the component price is pennies.
Someone's offering "compatibles" on eBay: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Sennheiser-CM1-Locking-3-5mm-Microphone-XLR-Lead-Cable-/300558319479 (Doesn't mention the blocking capacitor, though.)
Sennheiser's own? (from USA): http://www.audiogear.com/cgi-bin/shopper.cgi?key=SennCM1&preadd=action

Hi Dominic,
We save an SKP100 plug-in module going cheap, if you would want that? Give me a call to discuss.
Chris

I don't think there is a standard "official" Sennheiser-made cable.
But Sennheiser UK make them up in Service Dept. - give them a shout (01494-551-551).
You can also get them from LTF (Location technical facilities)
