Here is a link to scanner software which works with almost all film and flatbed scanners. You can download a trial version from the site below. I have used it over the weekend with my HP 5370c flatbed scanner with film adaptor and have not yet decided if its worth the $40.00.

Has anyone else used it or if not perhaps you would like to trial it also and post your reaction?

I think it might depend on how good your scanner software is. I use it with my Minolta transparency scanner and find it much better than the Minolta offering. Transparency or negative scanning is a bit more of a challenge than flatbed anyway and every little helps. The main thing as far as I am concerned is that it is much easier to do a lot of scans quickly because it works outside the imaging manipulation programme and auto file names as it goes. If you are scanning twenty plus slides at once this saves a whole load of mouse clicks. I have found Vuescan very helpful.

I've just downloaded and tested the Vuescan software with Acer Scanwit 2720S film scanner. Scanning Fuji transparencies I find the results much closer to the original than using the Mirafoto software provided with the scanner. There is a slight magenta cast but this is very simply removed from with Photoshop. My $40 will be on the way very shortly.
Thanks for making us aware of this link.

I'm glad you like the software Keitht but my experience using Vuescan with my basic HP 5370c (flatbed scanner with transparency adaptor) was not so positive. I found it very fiddly to obtain colour and density anywhere near the correct setting and it was such a hassle that I shall use the HP scanner software instead.
By the way. Are you pleased with the scans from your Scanwit? Why did you choose that model? Would you make the same decision?
Cheers

I chose the ScanWit on the basis of reviews and recommendation of staff in Jessops. Basically very happy with it. Bottom line was price, isn't it always!. For £300 there was nothing to match it.
I find the colour match with the original, on decently exposed trannies, much better with the VueScan software than with the version of Miraphoto provided or the upgraded version available from the Acer site. I dont do any colour correction within VueScan but work in Photoshop. I haven't tried copying using flatbed but have heard general comments that it can be problematic. Also as I have several thousand slides to copy I can prepare one set whilst another set is being processed with the 4 slide carriers.
