I've got a great idea for a modern horror movie, but not the resouces or money to make it (sound familiar?). I dont want to give too much away but it could be done on a relativley low budget I think, no special effects but involves alot of cameras!I've just got to do this before someone else has the same idea!
If your interested email me, Danny.
Hi,
OH No, not another Mrs Thacher movie. PLEASE NO!
Jim Bird
Hi Danny
How many cameras at you looking at.We are in Colne.mal
This is great, i've been making lo-budget movies since 89 and I love getting involved both behind and in front of the camera, the problem is getting friends to get involved as enthusiastically as I do. Check my website out. www.thebigdogz.co.uk I shall be converting a Horror movie I made back in 95 to Dv than adding new scenes ala' Star wars. If there is anyway I can help you please scream.....
Regards,
Craig...
What sort of cameras are you after. I have a D8 and a full size VHS (old). I'm located in Bolton, just down the road.
If you need me and I can fit it in. I'd be glad to help.
Glad to see such a positive response. I think the first thing on my list of needs is a broadcast (or near) quality camera and about half a dozen 3CCD mini DV cameras. Sounds a bit much I know, but very imortant. If you havnt got them dont let it put you off replying, any offers of help would be much appreciated.
The problem I have is not a shortage of cameras as the guys from the video club have loads- but ACTORS for my fiction horrors.
a) I can write some story with dialogue
but b) can't always get the people in front of the lens to deliver the lines.
Maybe your story invloves no actual actors to screw their lines!
Bill
My idea does actually involve a bit of improvisation based around a general story but no set script as such, maybe even one or two people who dont even now thier in a movie! I'll keep in touch, thanks.
Danny
If you're looking for actors and making moderately professional movies that will look good on an actor's showreel, have you tried PCR (Professional Casting Report)? I put a free ad in there for the last short I made (admittedly on 16mm film rather than DV), and got so many responses that the postperson was about ready to tell me to go collect them from the post office myself before they stopped arriving!
Cheers! I'll look into that.
Danny.
Forgive my ignorance but where can I find out more details about the "Professional Casting Report".
Cheers,
Pat
give us a shout when you have some concrete plans. I'm just down the road in Manchester
Nick
Actually, I may have been wrong about the precise meaning of the abbreviation: it's normally just referred to as PCR, and I've only found one reference to it on the web under the name I thought it stood for, but lots for Production and Casting Report.
Looks like it has a web site at: http://www.pcrnewsletter.com/.
Thanks Unicorn,
I've applied for teh free issue to see what it's all about. It's sounds more "professional" than for amateurs but I'll wait and see what they say in their publication.
They seem to offer a whole variety of services. When you used them at first did you get actors that you had to pay? Just asking as I currently use very talented amateurs who are free (except for expenses) and as I don't make any money from this - it's the way I like to keep things! Being an amateur doesn't mean that I don't aim for profesional results.
Cheers for the info anyway.
Pat
