I have an old grey G3,and want to set up an editing solution (DV300) and need to know what HD to get. I`m planning to start with a 9.1 gb U2Wlvd and expand to a raid solution later. Am I on the right sector?

If using SCSI then that sounds like a good idea.

You should also consider getting an 18Gb unit instead of the 9, then when you want to purchase a RAID solution you could just purchase 2 more.

9Gb drives are starting to get a bit risky because the next generation 36 / 50 Units are appearing, and once these are fully launched the 9Gb units will be discontinued.

That's my opinion anyway.. Hope it's of some use.

There's not much bad stuff around at the moment, but look at IBM. They have a couple of new drives out that are Very fast.
