On the opening titles and on the video/DVD cases do you put the brides name first or the grooms? I suppose it should be the groom but as most dealings are with the bride then her name tends to be put first, or does it really matter.

what does it say on the wedding invitation ?

i assume that the order of names on that , is the order of names on the video.

I always put the bride first - except within some communities, the groom will insist that his name appears first.

And we always ask exactly what form they want their names to take:

"Deborah and Robert"
"Debbie and Rob"
"Debs and Bob" ?

I have always put the brides name first. I also ask the couple to give a written list of names to ensure that any spelling mistakes will be down to them. And I make a point of asking about titles, Mr. Mrs. etc.

There's only one eF in Ferguson

I now seem to spend a lot of time arguing with inanimate objects

I don't think it matters too much personally.

On the video sleeve I always put the names in the matching order of the picture on the sleeve. ie if the groom is on the left, then so is his name.

I have never had anyone complain about which way rtound they go though and i do both.

Always put the Brides name first. Its her day as they say. Did have a problem last year when the brides parents names were before the grooms names in the end credits. The grooms father said, as he was paying for the video, his name should be first. UNBELIEVABLE! Had to redo the end of 2dvds and six tapes to keep him happy.

My opening titles appear underneath a 60 % image of who they are. My standard title of "this is our day" usually shows them processing down the aisle so whoever is going to be on left or right will be titled that way.

When it comes to 'guest lists' I insist that the client gives me the list either on a floppy/disc, or by e-mail, in the order they want shown. I just copy/paste that in, so any spelling mistakes, or "Aunt fanny should be before Uncle Albert" aren't down to me!

On the end of our wedding videos we show a montage of the day as stills, starting with posed stills of Brides Parents, Grooms, B/Maids etc. I had one case were the mother of one of the couple wanted to be with her new partner but didn`t want her ex husband with his new one. I refused point blank! I told them I wouldn`t treat one couple any different than the other.

Re Busbys dilema with the fathers name first, were the couple happy with this? Again, I think I would have refused! After all, I`m not known for being bolshi :) much!!

In my experience, more "american" and "european" couples have the bride's name first. more "asian" couples have the groom's name first. i always ask and request they document how they want their names displayed. i don't want to choose between full name, first name only, full name with middle initials, nicknames, given names, etc.

In my experience it is the bride and her parents who organise the video, so "he/she who pays the piper" as we say in Scotland gets the top billing!

I have given the father his own personal copy with his name first. That did the trick.
