Will 2 into 1 go?

I am currently in the market for a new flat screen TV and have my eyes currently fixed on a Pioneer Plasma PDP436XDE.

It seems to tick all the boxes with the added bonus of 2 HDMI inputs.

I feel however that I am being swayed by the 2 HDMI inputs and not giving other TV's a look in.

I guess given the choice I'd prefer LCD as benefits appear to out weigh any negatives but the jury is currently out on that one.

Is there such a thing as a HDMI alternative to a 3 in 1 SCART adapter?

Are there other screens with multiple HDMI sockets that I've not found?

Any input gratefully received.

Have just returned from Singapore where they have all the different manufacturers HDTVs you could ask for on display.
The Sony Bravia LCD impressed me the most. It does not appear to have any of the problems of LCds in the past (delay with fast moving objects etc) .
I notice that BRAVIA is now advertised in Britiain.
Any help?

Indeed, lcds are improving; the latest have 8ms resonse time, just about fast enough for video. lcds are currently making better pictures than plasma; plasma wins only on the nigger sizes it can do.

What do you mean by "a 3 in 1 SCART adapter"? HDTV will be made available to you via decoders with HDMI connectors, certainly broadcast boxes will (although the first generation of Sky boxes is rumoured to provide component (Y,Pb,Pr) as well, to appease those who've displays that aren't "HD-ready", but that will be only for one generation of boxes. HD dvd players will almost certainly have only HDMI outputs at HD. There are already connector/switch boxes that will route HDMI signals, on the consumer market, so you needn't be afraid of HDMI.

Hi Erich

Yes the Bravia that has caught my attention, and does indeed look like a good screen

The 40" seems very comparable in price to the 43" plasma as well so is currently at the top of my current LCD list.

I can also get 5year free warranty on the LCD but sadly not with the Plasma so another plus point goes to the Bravia.

Hi Alan

Seems more and more like the Plasma will be dropping into 2nd place.

What I meant by the adapter is that the screens only have 1 HDMI input but by the time Sky come out with their new box next year I'll have two HDMI sources so was wondering, like the SCART multiple adapters, many sources into one input, will there, is there an HDMI alternative.

From your statement of already being connector/switch boxes available today then my concerns are un-founded.

Thank you

I think so, try looking at Keene's catalogue, or CPC/Farnell. I know that there are professionally priced items around, not certain of consumer kit, but by the time you need it, there will be solutions available.
