Medics on remote sites need to convert video clips to files that will run in Powerpoint...
They will have access to basic macmini and iMovie.

What is most economic (time and Purchase cost) way of creating media files that will play within Powerpoint? Delivery will be via PC rather than Mac.

Anybody got any experience of Movavi?

mpeg1 , plays on all pc's.
any other codec , barring wmv , will probably need codecs installed , and so not guaranteed to replay within powerpoint.

Flip4Mac Studio is a paid-for ($49) downloadable plugin for Quicktime, which will allow Quicktime Pro 7 to convert .mov files to WMV files. Works well for .mov files destined for PowerPoint.

The free demo version will convert the first 30 seconds only, to confirm correct operation with their setup.

mpeg1, mepg2 & DV avi are all fine for powerpoint without any additives. wmv can sometimes come out darker than the other formats, for some weird reason.

CAN put Quicktime (.mov) into PPT but most people have no idea on how to do it. I do it all the time 8-) and same with .swf, and even .flv files

Windows does not have a native mpeg2 decoder installed. You have to add it as an extra.
It is therefore not safe to assume that

You can , but they will not replay on a machine without the correct codecs installed.

for .vob files, sure, but all win machines I've ever used will play .mpg files straight off the bat

which is why flash is so goodly, since pretty much any machine with web access is likely to have flash installed.

Thanks for your interest - that's clarified my own thoughts, in that I favoured mpeg1, but I could've been persuaded to change to another file format if it was proven to work UNIVERSALLY and reliably...

Still using cleaner 6 to achieve mpegs - should really set up compressor - any recommended settings?

BUT how to get to mpeg from IMOVIE, what do they need (Cheaply)

TA!
