My trusted old Sony 500 DVD burner died this morning after several years of good service, Cost £180 new!! Can't even begin to think how many disks it's burned in its time. Pity they don't have a built in counter to tell you.
Picked up a replacement for damn near a tenth of the price, we'll see how long that lasts!

Very sorry to hear that Brian, you must feel devistated. Don't worry though, it's gone to that big scrap yard in the sky, so it will be amongst friends. If you want to talk, give me a ring.

too upset at the moment Peter, but thanks for the offer. It's having to spend money that's hurting :D

I'm on my third Pioneer. They're so cheap I was really taken aback when I opened a duff one to see what £20 buys you. Such beautiful tight-tolerance micro mechanical engineering - I was wide-eyed with admiration at what mass (and I mean mass) production can give us. Talk about value for money. A DVD burner that will last years or six M & S sandwiches that will last a day
