As usual, er`indoors went to the Brides house before last saturdays wedding scheduled for 1230! I`m at the church getting everyone else arriving, but come 1235, no photographer let alone bridesmaids or even the bride!!! 1255 the tog arrives to advise that there was a major problem with one of the Bridesmaid dresses, apparantly, the shop who made the dress made a dogs breakfast of fitting the zip, having machined much to close to the zip teeth resulting in it breaking whilst trying to put it on.They phoned the shop who couldn`t or wouldn`t help, then a local seamstress in the village who offered to "Sew" the girl into the dress! Of went Brides mum & Bridesmaid but the bride wouldn`t get dressed until mum returned, resulting in further delays. Eventually the ceremony got under way at 1315, luckily there wasn`t another service after ours. My wife, who is used to me having a bit of a swear occasionally (I`m also a mechanic!!!) said that the fffing & blinding from the bridesmaid had to be heard to be believed.

After the service I couldn`t believe the couple, they were having a long conversation with someone about nothing really whilst everyone had gone to the hotel for the reception, I know it`s their day BUT!!! poor hotel had to deal with the cooking etc.

I sometimes wonder why we do this job, then I think of the pleasure we`ve given to hundreds of couples over the years & then of course there`s the dosh!!!

and also...

i filmed a celeb wedding the other week, and the getting ready stage went 1.5hrs over schedule, which meant the marquee choir singers had to sing more songs to entertain the waiting guests, which meant the ceremony was late, which meant the catering company had cooked too early, which meant the speeches were later, which meant the evening guests arrived too early...

but it was ALL worth it, coz the bride was STUNNING! I think delays are 'expected' at every single wedding...bit like flights at airports, and important post at your front door :)
